September

September has come and gone. WOWZA. Here we are now the second week in October. This school year is already FLYING by. This past weekend Carter and Bret went to their first father/son weekend at Camp! When they were leaving Carter told Bret, "If I could run to camp, I would!" He was so excited to go to camp with Bret and sleep on the top bunk:) They played tons of "crossfit" fun games such as kickball, 9 square(which C loved), soccer, and some relay games and races. Bret told me Carter loved the barn swing and wanted to do it over and over, although C told me that his favorite thing was the zip line. They got to swim in the pool, and do the new zero gravity activity they have at camp and enjoy the slushes. They mostly just had such a good time hanging out together with one another. Carter told Bret one morning while the speaker was talking that he said outlaid "I believe in you" and he told Bret he was talking to God. They had some great discussions and so much. They were so.tired when they got home though! We had a fun rest of the day when they got home taking some of our team bowling and grilling out with them that night. The little two and I had a great weekend going to the football game with Lisa and Quincy and stomping on crickets:). Whatever kept the kids entertained at the game. We also went to Orange Leaf(the new froyo place in town) and we are gonna make sure they stay in business. We definitely missed the boys being home though. Glad they are back! They also have gone hunting together this fall, so Bret and Carter have made so many fun memories. Tuck wasn't old enough to go hunting so the next day Bret told them they would go fishing. When they were about to leave he told Carter "want to come with me and daddy?" He is such a sweet kid and wanted Carter to go with him. I love that .

At the beginning of September I had surgery again to remove the glands from my mouth. This surgery was a little more extensive this time around, but thankfully my recovery went so much better. We had so many friends and family come and help us so I could recover. It was such a huge blessing to us. I am so thankful and felt so loved by so many. The kids had so much fun with my mom, Amy, Alli and our church family blessed us hugely with bringing us meals everyday. Grams and Aunt Sarah came in town that week as well and stayed at Lost Pines, so Bret would take the kids up there in the afternoons and evenings so I could rest too. They loved that. Grams got to go to lunch for grandparents day with Carter on Friday too.

That weekend we went to Houston for the Mercy House Gala. Our friends Scott and Amy watched our kids for us so we could go. It was a good time to see all God is doing in the Mercy House. We stayed the night and went to church with them the next morning. It was fun to go to see so many people and our friends the Parker's are visiting there now as well, which was so fun seeing them.

I started my bible study with my girls back up on Wednesday nights again. That has been going really well and we have also had the joy of leading another mom's group at the church, and Bret has been able to speak to the kids at converge on Wednesday night as well. We are feeling so plugged in and really apart of this community. I feel really grateful for the friends we have made and how well our kids feel connected as well.

Carter is still doing great in school and loves it. Last week he received a Knight award at school for Respect. His teacher is always telling us how he says yes m'am and no m'am and has such wonderful manners. We are so very proud of him. He is just doing so well in school and setting such a wonderful example. It is still weird not having him home everyday, but I am so grateful he is so happy. Tuck is doing so wonderfully at Mrs. Kelli's this year too. He has been on purple everyday, which means he has been listening and following all of the rules perfectly! He also comes home saying things he learned like rhinovirus and streptococcus. His vocabulary amazes me. He always calls chalk "chop". Tuck always says UGH. and loves to read "go dog go still and pete and his groovy buttons. Rylie is saying new things like "pretty baby' and heyyyy mama uh uhhhh. oh and she also folds her arms over her chest very well.Between her and Tucker there is not any space in the air for any more words. Her strong will sometimes scares me a little. She is still obsessive with playing in the bathroom sinks. We find her there constantly. She loves to yell for the Bears at the football game. :) She says yeah instead of yes and uh-uh instead of no. Thats a first for our kiddos. She still loves her pacifier and blankets and to ride with the boys on the gator and tractors.

Last weekend we went to Houston because I got inducted into the Friendswood High school Hall of fame. It was such a fun weekend getting to see all my old teammates and meet their families. The kids had such a great time seeing grandpa and playing with Christopher. They were so wiped when we left there that night. They slept the whole way home. I am so thankful we are so close to family to just drive a few hours to see them.

Bret and I had the opportunity to go to Atlanta for a few days last week for a CFA conference. It was pretty amazing with a stacked lineup of speakers such as Zach Johnson, Roger Staubach, and Bob Goff. It was so nice to get away and hang out with Bret for a quick overnight trip. Grams and Aunt Pat had a fun time the kiddos back at home.

it is 97 degrees today on October 12th. Crazy. Sure would be nice for some cooler weather coming in soon.
