There has been a lot going on this past month, but nothing comes close to as exciting as it was to see Carter turn FIVE. Five is such a big birthday because they really really get it now and are counting down the days till they are a whole hand. The week of his birthday he begged me to bring cupcakes to school on Tuesday instead of Thursday because he was so excited. Which boy am I glad he did. Thursday we were "supposed" to have ice in Austin and of course there was none, but they had already cancelled all Austin schools and surrounding cities. He loved being able to bring cupcakes to his class and wear the birthday crown. He had specific cupcakes for each kid in his class that he wanted to give one to. So like him to have a special one for everybody.
We were having his actual birthday party on his birthday this year so he was looking forward to that day so much.He woke up early that morning and waited for me to come out so I could show him all the decorations. He hugged Bret and I so many times that morning. I LOVE this age and his sweetness. I did learn that next year we need to stick to the morning birthday though instead of waiting till four. Even though that worked great so family could all make it in, the poor sweet kid all day kept saying "I wonder when all my guests will arrive?" :) It was the cutest. Thankfully my aunt and his cousin Christopher got here early, so they got to play before everyone else arrived. The party turned out perfect. The kids all had so much fun. We had some friends from school here, a neighbor, friends from church and then our families were here as well. The kids had a blast on the bounce house some friends let us borrow, and loved hitting the pinatas and of course the kids loved cake and helping the boys opening their gifts. The weather was perfect for the party and it just turned out as well as I could of hoped for our boys. They have been ninja turtles for so long now, so to be able to give them a ninja turtle birthday was perfect. Someone gave them some ninja turtle shirts and T as soon as he opened it, ripped off his shirt and put it on. Nothing can really match that child's excitement. When he opened a gift he would say "yes, I always wanted this! They got lots of fun ninja turtle toys, some play-doh, legos, cars, and a new bike for Carter and a new basketball goal for Tucker. I loved just every minute of watching my boys on this day. Seeing them so happy just makes me so happy.
The day after Carter's birthday we left for a vacation, so Grams and Pops manned the kiddos for us for four days. Having a birthday party and having all new toys to play with and then going out of town def. was a good idea:). They did so great with Grams and Pops and I am so thankful to have such awesome grandparents who love our kiddos so well. When we came back my mother in law told me just how sweet all three of our kids are. Makes my heart just explode hearing that.
Lately Rylie (still not walking and 14 months here in a few days) maybe she will hit her stride at 14 months like Tucker. My kids are just lifetime crawlers it feels like. We had a rough month with Rylie getting all four molars a few weeks ago and an ear infection, but thankfully our sweet, happy baby girl is back. She has been so sweet and content still babbling like crazy. She is learning all the parts of the body and starting to say animal noises like baaaaa and woof. Its so cute. She is still so incredibly obsessed with dogs and her blanket. She also can scream so loudly when she doesn't get what she wants and she also knows how to take away and get what she wants from her brother(and YES we are in trouble with her cute self).
Tuck has been SO excited to be three. He shows me his fingers everyday and how he can do three of them now. Holding down that pinky and thumb can be tricky for those little guys. They also call each other 3T and 5T. Bret used to call them 2T and 4T and they have kept it going now with their new numbers. It is so hilariously cute. Tucker's favorite things to say right now are "mom you gotta come check this out." and then always asks me to take the paper off his banana. He is still a broken record when he wants something he will ask over 100 times. That is not an exaggeration. He still gives the best hugs and wants to high five you when he does something well. I love that.
Carter will be in Kindergarten soon. Not that he is five that seems so real. I know he will do great though, it is me I am worried about. I sure will miss him around the house during the days. We visited a few schools around here lately for him and I think we have landed somewhere for him. He loves to build all his legos right now by himself. He gets his cute little smirk when he comes to show Bret and I the finished product. He asked me this week if I still get to take him on a special date for his birthday since Bret did last year. I can't wait to take his cute little self to the movies. We are so proud of these kiddos and that they are ours. The fact that we get to be their parents is the best gift. We are having a blast. This next week is spring break so we are going to head to Houston to spend some time with family and friends. Looking forward to it!!
