Las Colinas

I have been to Dallas so many times and in so many suburbs of Dallas, but I had never heard of Las Colinas. It is actually just right outside of Irving. It is a beautiful city, but it most definitely has the feel of a very business type city. We learned that from the first day we got here and drove to the store that Bret would be working at that there was no playground at the CFA. I was actually pretty bummed about that being at a mall in Oklahoma, but once you saw the traffic that came through for breakfast and lunch it is no wonder why. All men and women in suits, so not really a playground needed, but we were excited to have breakfast again:)We stayed in a hotel the first few days we were here because our apartment wasn't ready yet, so we hung out with Grams and Pops a lot in Denton to keep from getting kicked out of our hotel:) Thankfully it was just a few short days and we were in our apartment. Bret had to work the day we were able to move in, so my amazing Aunt who lives about 30 minutes north of us in Argyle came and help me unload our whole Uhaul into our second story apartment, while Bret's awesome mom watched the boys. We were nice and sweaty by the end of that:)

It is still the end of May at this point and so temperatures were so nice out and the weather was not too terrible yet. Bret had a partner again this month, which was even better because Paul and his wife had two kids. Two boys at that! So it was pretty awesome to have someone going through the same program as us with two kids around the same ages. We did a lot of fun things with them this month such as going to the Ft. Worth Stockyards and Joe T Garcias, as well as around town type things like going to the park or just going to the store to eat and see our husbands.

We also got to spend a lot of time with Bret's family since they lived only 30 minutes away. We went to Gainesville one day and went to the zoo with Jackson and Caroline(cousins) and back to Aunt Sarah's house for popsicles. We also went to the Dallas world aquarium with Aunt Pat and Grams which was incredible! Such a cool place! I also had the awesome opportunity to go to the rangers game with one of my camp friends Kim, which was such a fun night with her even though I am now 0-3 with going to Rangers games. (sorry babe) Our good friends Steve and Alli also live here in Dallas. We loved getting to see them and our kids loved going over to their house Sunday after church to play in their backyard and swim! So much fun!

My amazing mom also turned 50 this month! So all of us kids threw her a little party in Houston which was a BLAST! We got her a pinata and put some of her favorite candy in it, but also put 50 things in it which reminded us of her. My sister got her the best cake ever and we had a lot of fun celebrating our beautiful mom. It was a great memory and I still cannot believe my mom is 50!

We got to see some other friends in Houston and hang out and go to the Elephant park with the Coldwell's. (see pic below) The kids had a little too much fun with the chalk. :) It was so great to see friends and family during that week. Such a blessing to only be three hours away

We had a bigger patio this month so they boys rode bikes and scooters there a lot more than around the complex in Oklahoma, but they also had a big rock pit that they played with at the bottom of our stairs as well as many many rain puddles to play in :)

I was more than a little shocked and pretty sad when we found out only after a few weeks we were heading to Arizona. I probably didn't take the news the best, but I vowed never to leave Bret again for more than a week after he was gone for three weeks, so even though we knew it would only be for a month we were most definitely going with him. But def. a very fun month in May.
