August, hurricane, september and now its October

What a whirlwind of a few months it has been. Bret took the kids to the lake for one last hurrah before school started and they fished, rode tubes, and had a blast together while I got some much needed rest. Our kiddos started school mid August and went for a week and a half until Hurricane Harvey came and destroyed so much of Houston. My best friend growing up lost their home, so many others from my hometown and from around here as well. It was a really dark few weeks around here in Houston. Our store opening got pushed back and it felt like we lost momentum we had going with so many things. We were able to go help and work with other people though too. That was good to be able to help. I am thankful for that.

Our boys are loving school and making new friends. That has been fun to watch. Carter never ceases to amaze me with how kind and sweet his heart is. Tucker has had to do a whole month of fun and kind things for Kinder and one of them this past month was that he had to write a thank you note to a garbage man or mailman. I walked out last Thursday to see where he was and he was watching the garbage truck drive away with his thank you card in his hand crying. He was so upset he missed the garbage man. So I loaded the kids up and we drove up and down the streets trying to find the garbage man. We finally found him and followed him until he stopped and Tuck ran out of the car faster than Ive ever seen. He handed that thank you card to the garbage man and he picked him up and put him on his truck and let Tuck pull the horn. You have never seen a smile so big. It was so awesome. I love watching our kids see how far a little kindness can go.

They all three are playing soccer too. That has been the highlight of our fall so far, well and our store opening! Rylie is so funny when she's playing and scores a ton of goals each game because she's one of the only ones who likes to run. Tuck is intense and gets in there with those boys and Carter is a hustle machine and all over the place. They all have scored this season and they are having fun, and that is what matter most.

Our store has been open about 2 and a half weeks now and its going well so far! Opening week was crazy and fun! Premiere night was a huge success with Simone BILES even attending! amazing! Instead of the dedication dinner we had a team event at the store with food trucks, rock walls and a bounce house, and our kids were in heaven! They had a blast. We did about the same opening numbers as we did in Bastrop and that was encouraging and exciting! Bret is working really long days and we miss him, but I am grateful the leadership team that he has in his corner with him, what a gift it is to us.

Rylie is loving pre school and having a lot of fun with her new friend Evi and her teachers Mrs. Stephanie and Mrs. Jackie, which is crazy those are her teachers in her class at BSF too. I have picked back up teaching the kids with BSF too and am loving that.

Angie had her baby Sunday September 24th, so of course all the kids wanted to go see baby Bradley so we went down there on Sunday to see him. I am playing in a soccer league on Sunday evenings with Alli and it has been a blast to play again with her.

Lately we are just thankful to be here and happy and alive. A lot of people in Houston are still without and so we just continue to pray and check on them. Looking forward to the fall and what is to come!

August is here

Amelia and her kids came to stay and play for the week and we had a blast. We swam with friends, and went to play at the park and even watched the Espy's together. It was a fun week. I loved Waco with my mom and sisters. We had such a great time seeing the town, going on a tour of fixer upper houses, and going to shops and fun places to eat. Bret and the kids had a great week swimming and mowing and cleaning up the house and doing fun things like getting sno cones together. New Braunfels was a blast as well. Our kiddos floated the river everyday and loved that. They played and played and had so much fun with cousins in the water hose and fishing and swimming. Last week we went to the zoo with my dad and sisters. We all loved that. The kids loved the huge snakes and seeing all the animals and riding the carousel. They loved the kids area as well. Bret was gone all last week and we hosted coaches from camp at our house and loved that as well. It was a great week with them and hanging out with them. We cooked dinner for them a few nights that week and had my sister and some friends over to swim as well. The week felt long, but we went to Bastrop on Sunday to help Bret clean out the store and then were there for the last day Monday. I shed lots of tears, and we will really miss that sweet little town. I am so grateful for our time there. Lots of memories and great friends we will walk away with from being in that town. Excited to see what God does here in Spring. Here is to another new adventure.
