March 2016

March is always a favorite month in our family, and this has been an extra good one. Carter's sixth birthday was this year(WHICH IS CRAZY) so we had so much fun celebrating him all weekend. He wanted his friend Gibson to come over and spend the night, so after school Gibson came home with us and the boys played and played. We went to see zootopia that night and they passed out after the movie that night. The next morning I woke up to them wrestling early in the morning. Boys will be boys. Sunday after church, we made a family day out of it and went to the outlets in San Marcos to get Carter some new shorts and we found some summer clothes for Rylie too. Then we took Carter to target where he picked out an avenger nerf gun with a shield. Of course we had to get two, because Tuck wanted one as well. Next, we ran into this fun remote control car races , and then headed to Jason's deli for dinner. Carter loves the gingerbread muffins there and the kids all shared some mac and cheese and of course....free ice cream. Lastly, we went to the bowling and arcade center in Bastrop so the kids could play some games. They love doing air hockey, ski ball and playing all the fun games with daddy. We had a blast having a whole day together as a family. Monday was Carter's actual birthday, so Bret went to school with him and was a watchdog(dads of great students) at his school. Then, we all came to eat lunch with him and take cupcakes to his class. To wrap up the birthday boy's day everyone at community group sang to him. Can't believe that kid is 6. He has been loving playing basketball lately and has gotten so into watching the final four with me(I have loved every.minute of that) He wrote a paper at school about his brother not wanting him to leave for school, but that he promised him he would be back. Those two do fight a lot, but deep down they really love each other. Carter is doing his first after school activity right now, it is a program called mad science and he loves that because he wants to be a scientist when he grows up. Carter always prays at dinner time and at the end of all his prayers he always says "and thank you most of all for Jesus." I love to hear him pray. Cannot believe his first year of school is almost over. I am sure I will be thinking the same thing when he graduates.

Tuck has also been into basketball with Carter lately too. When they went to the rodeo with my mom over spring break, they both won basketballs and just had so much fun picking them. Tuck picked an aggie basketball and Carter picked a Houston Cougar basketball. After we picked the kids up from mom's, we went down to my dad's house for spring break. That was a blast. It made me so excited and ready for summer. Bret came with us the first few days too and I am so grateful he can do things with us all the time. We swam and played and rode all my dad's toys and went to dinner with all my siblings. We got to hang out with some friends from Houston and then ended up coming home on Thursday to spend the weekend at home with Bret and to just have a few days to relax before school started back up. Tuck is always talking about how he knows everything. He told Bret the other day how he knows "mommy is going to pick me up today and I know about the trees and the streets and I know about God and Jesus." So bret asked him what he knew about God and Jesus and he said, " I know God lives in heaven and Jesus lives in our hearts." He is growing up right before our eyes. He has been so much better with yes sir and no sir, and just using his manners. He still will fall asleep random places when he gets tired, but he is doing so great at school and just such a sweet boy.

Rylie, well Rylie is every bit of two. She's as sweet as can be some days and some days she wants what only she wants. She can out eat any two year old out there though. Yesterday we left CFA with a 12 count nugget and Carter and I each ate one and then we handed her the box and when we got home there was NONE left. She is a serious monster eater. It is insane because I have no idea where it goes. She always LOVEs to hear herself talk. I constantly hear "Hey mommy, what are you doing?" She loves to make faces and say "happy" and "so sad". She is a little mom and will repeat everything I say to the boys. She loves to watch team umizooomi, while Tuck is into monster math squad and C is still into the lion guard. She is pretty girly. When we were at my mom's this weekend she put on my mom's shoes and said "I wear high heels". Bret and I were thinking HOW IN THE WORLD DOES SHE EVEN KNOW WHAT HIGH HEELS are. She loves still to get into everything and be naked. She always wants to be naked. I don't really understand this, but every time we turn around she is naked. Hopefully it is just a phase. She loves to play in her kitchen and with her shopping cart. It is so fun having a little girl.

Last weekend we went to my mom's for Easter and that was a really fun time. Carter ended up getting sick on Friday, and so we kinda just laid low at my mom's house that night. Saturday, I went with Amy to a fair trade friday shop at Mercy House and Bret took the kids to meet my sister and JM at the park and then to CFA(yes, they went to cfa in houston, crazy). That afternoon, we rested and then Bret and I got to go on a double date with Amy and Scott to see the new Big fat greek wedding movie and then dinner after. Sunday, Bret and I left the kids with my mom and we went to church and then we we got back to my mom's my sisters, papaw and my Uncle Trae and his family were all there. It was a very fun and laid back day. We had crawfish and gumbo for lunch with lots of other yummy foods. The kids hunted for eggs, played at the park, and swam in the hot tub, so they were wiped when we left that evening to drive home.

Today is the last week in March and it is already about 85 degrees today, so summer should be brutal this year. Hopefully that will mean lots and lots of time to swim this summer. The kids already swam in the pool after school today! Can't wait for summer!

February 2016

February is a shorter month anyways, but this one sure did fly by! I started my mom's group up this month, along with my Wednesday night bible study girls and that has been a fun change of pace around here. It has kept me busy, that is for sure.

This has to go down as our warmest February ever and I sure did love every.minute of it!! It has been so warm this winter, which I think also in turn has kept our kiddos so much healthier this year. So very thankful for that. Last week Bret's parents and his aunts all came in to help with the kiddos while we were at seminar. We had such a great time at seminar, and the kiddos seemed to have a blast playing soccer with Pops and enjoying all their new fun Easter toys and candy from Grams. So thankful for their willingness to always us help with the kiddos.

We have had random birthday parties throughout this month and took some time last weekend to take the kids to the Dinosaur park. They sure did love that and had a great time doing the scavenger hunt looking for all the dinosaurs, playing in the sand with the fossils and they have a playground at the end that you can play on. It made for a fun day while daddy was working!

We went to the children's museum at the beginning of the month with friends and then after got Tuck a haircut. His shaggy mess was about due for one. He has looked more and more like a four year old this past month with his "yes m'am's" and being so sweet to his sister and helping her more like Carter does so often. Tuck learned how to swing himself this past month and he is constantly out in the backyard swinging now. He smiles so big every.single.time he is swinging out there. He also has been working so hard to finally get down the monkey bars. He is not there yet, but he will be soon. Getting so big! He tells us all the time he is "almost five." Even though he just turned four. I love how kids always say that right after their birthday.

Rylie. Oh Rylie. She is about the sweetest thing you've ever seen and also the biggest mess you have ever seen. The other day she emptied my lotion into her hair and all over herself everywhere. She constantly will just pull every single thing out of drawers. Recently it has been ziplock bags, pots and pans, crayons and envelops...on and paper clips too. Every time she finds a pen she first colors on her belly and then proceeds to color on anything and everything that is not paper. When kids are two their mantra is "make mess" over and over and over. Rylie is kinda over all her shorter words now like "wawa" she just says water now. I am always blown away by what comes out of her mouth. The other day she said "Is that salsa mommy?" Is it spicy? Really? It just will come out of nowhere. She is counting her numbers now and she is pretty much a little mom right behind me all day yelling the boys names when I do and saying "Come on boys." She did climb out of her crib this week, so we took out the board and put the mattress on the floor like we did for Tuck. Hopefully that will keep her in there a while longer.

Carter is reading on the highest level in his class. We are SO proud of him for that. I went to his school for his Valentine's party this month. I love that I get to go up there for those types of things. He is learning the value of working for things that he wants to buy. This week he asked us if he could mow the lawn because he wanted money for the book fair. So he did. He mowed the yard and did extra chores to earn money. It is so fun to see that in him. Next week he will be six. <crazy> He is having his buddy Gibson come spend the night with him tomorrow night and then we will probably have a family day with him on Sunday. Can't wait to celebrate Carter man.

We also went to Houston this month to see our friend Jordan and Kristen's new baby. That was a lot of fun to see their new son. We went to Porter's basketball games and our kids loved getting to see that. Made me excited that one day soon we will get to do those kind of things! We got to see Ana and Titus too and get to hang out with them. It was a pretty short quick trip, but I am thankful we live so close to be able to do things like that.

It is almost spring break and we are going to head down to Friendswood so the kids can meet my sister's new baby girl. My mom is also going to take the kids to the rodeo while Bret and I go to a wedding. So lots of fun things coming up in the next few weeks. Can't believe it is already March!
