Thanksgiving

These past few weeks there is just always that constant reminder of all we have to be thankful for. I wish my mindset was always on thankfulness and to be grateful for all we have.

The week before Thanksgiving was such a fun week of get together's with people around the community. We had Carter's Thanksgiving feast at school, followed by one with our community group that evening. We sure are loving all the amazing people we have and are meeting continually in Bastrop. Bret's business consultant came that same day and he had such a great meeting with him. All of these followed by lots of fun birthday parties for the kiddos to go to and shower for me to get a night out with girls. Grateful for the community the Lord is putting before us here.

This past week was Thanksgiving week and it was such a FUN filled week. Sunday we had some friends over for dinner from our community group, which was a lot of fun. All of us girls hung out all afternoon, while the guys went and rode dirt bikes. It was a fun afternoon with all of the kiddos. Monday was such a sweet sweet surprise with our dear friend Nat from tim team coming in from Africa. A good handful of our team met up at our store on Monday, and it was so great to catch up with everyone. Nat and Erin came back over to our house for while after and I always love getting time with them like that. Nat encourages me so much with her heart for what she does and how much she loves Jesus. So thankful we crossed paths with her almost ten years ago!

Tuesday morning the kiddos and I packed up and headed to Houston. We knew this would be a busy week for Bret, so we went and spent some extra time with family this week! We went down to my dad's first on Tuesday. We met some of the family up at the restaurant for lunch, then went to the park with my Aunt Rose and Christopher. Carter and Christopher love playing with each other so we had a great time at the park. The weather this whole week had been amazing and SO needed because it gave my kiddos endless time outside. Then, we went to target and ran by Jenn's house for a quick visit to drop off some gifts for Foster kids for Christmas and then back to my dad's. By the time we got there, all my kids were about ready for bed. So, we got to bed early and the next morning my boys were off getting donuts with Grandpa, riding the four wheeler, and all  his toys all morning. Christopher came back over and all the boys played all morning. I ended up leaving Carter there with my dad, and the little two came with me up to the Woodlands. Rylie had her 9 month check up(at ten months old), so we went and did that. Our sweet girl is almost 15 pounds now. She is just so tiny, but she is as healthy as can be and so that is always great to hear. After that, we went back to mom's and hung out with Ana, my mom and baby Titus and that evening we all went to dinner at Papadaueux's for my Papaw's 72nd birthday. That was a lot of fun. This time of year always makes me miss my grandma especially, so I am glad we could all be there for Papaw's birthday. Bret got in late that evening, so I was so glad to have him there with us!

Thursday was Thanksgiving and this was the first year in so long we just got to stay at my mom's house all day. It was so nice to just be at one place all day! My mom and aunts cooked all day, and we had such an amazing lunch, with SO many great desserts. My mom got the kids a new police car and so they drove around on that all.week.long. It was so fun for them. We just hung out and played and ate all day. Bret and I took the kids to the park, and Carter was a celebrity with his car at the park. He was so sweet sharing with everyone. Most the family trickled out in the evening, and we bathed the kiddos, and sat outside by the fire and took lots of pics. Oh and Carter wrestled with all the big boy cousins all day long. That kid is so tough. I found Tucker asleep in my mom's bed at one point in the day. The kids just went so hard this week. Bret had to head back home that night because of Black Friday the next day, so the kiddos and I stayed with my mom till Saturday while he went back to work. We hung out with family and went to a restaurant in Conroe the next day for lunch, and then got all the kids naps Friday and just had a relaxing fun evening Friday night. Made smores with my mom and played football outside with the kids:). Today we did much of the same and got all packed up and left to come home around 3. Went up to CFA for dinner to see daddy and so I didn't have to cook. We just got home a few hours ago and our kids are wiped from having so much fun this week. Carter said his favorite part was going to grandpa's and Tucker always cries when we get back home because he wants to stay at Itsy's house. As much fun as we had I know we were all glad to be back home.

These next few weeks we have so much going on in December, it already seems crazy!

Some fun things the kids have said lately is how they always ask me how fast we are going in the car. The boys are obsessed with knowing how fast we are going and the exact speed at all times. Rylie is getting louder by the day and stronger all pulling up and walking along everything. She plays this fun game where she tries to bite my nose off and just laughs so hard, and she also loves to dance and swing her hands up and down and open her mouth so wide all the time. It is so great. Tucker loves to sing Hickety pickety bumble bee, won't you say your name for me, and when he gets to the our friend part "friend" kinda has a country twang to it. It is pretty cute. Carter a few weeks ago at dinner didn't want to eat his veggies and looked at Bret and I and said, "Well, here is the truth. Green and orange are not my favorite colors, so I can't eat these." It was one of those moments Bret just kept staring at him and my head was under the table laughing. I don't know where they come up with this stuff, but I sure do love it and love those three.

Today we had a great day decorating our Christmas tree. Carter is just at the perfect age for everything. He is just getting so big and asking so many questions about Christmas. His teacher at church today told us that he was so respectful and polite always and it just makes us so happy to hear that. When we told Carter how proud of him we were he said That God in his heart helped him to do that. So sweet. When we were putting up the nativity scene Carter asked me to read him the story of Jesus to go along with it as he put the people up. I love just watching him learn and grow more and more about Jesus. We are going to do an advent calendar with them for the first time this year and also some kindness elves. I am interested to see how it all plays out, but am so excited to make them see how much Christmas is more than the presents.

September, October and November

Well, I always feel like fall FLYS by, but this fall has been just a blur. This week a big coldfront blew through and up until this point we have just spent most of our days enjoying the beautiful weather we have had. The kids and I have pretty much just lived outside this fall playing in our front yard or going for walks to the park. It has been so fun and we all love being outside so much more than in.

September was Carter's first full month at school and I cannot even begin to tell you with enough words how much that child loves school. He adores his teachers, he has made so many great friends, and just is learning so much while having so much fun. This past week he had to miss his first day of school. He awas in so many tears and kept telling me he wasn't sick just because he was so incredibly sad to miss a day at school. They have chapel every morning, and then practice on learning their letters and counting. He LOVES that he gets to each lunch at school everyday this year. We originally were also supposed to pick him up at 2, but he loves it so much he stays till 3:30 everyday to play and stay for extended care(which always is a huge help to mom since the little ones are napping:)). Carter is still just in the sweetest phase ever. Last night(and he had just been getting over being sick) but he was so helpful to me always around the house. He went and got his and Tucker's toothbrush and put toothpaste on them and said "Mom, I just wanted to help you so you didn't have to do it." He does stuff like this all.the.time right now and it just melts my heart. Carter just goes to school on Tuesday and Thursday's. Thursday is treasure box day and he pretty much lives for this day. He stays on green always because nothing is better than treasure box. Last week he came home and he got the same treasure box as the week before because he wanted Tucker to have one too. It made me so happy he wanted to make sure Tucker had one. Carter will always talk to me about how 4 year olds listen and how 2 year olds don't. It is pretty funny because we are, well, right now always talking to Tucker about something:) Carter says silly things still all the time because he is a 4 year old boy, but he just loves to give kisses and hugs to everyone and tell you that he loves you times every number there ever was and just recently it has been added that he loves you more than all the rescue bots and transformers, and ninja turtles in the whole wide world(that is BIG time). Carter always says he wants his buddy to be cold at night and it makes me laugh but he most def. does not want to be cold because he is like his mom:) Tucker and him always say "the panteth for" because they want to sing as the deer panteth for the water every night. It is pretty sweet. We put them down together every night and then just move Tucker to his bed after they go to sleep. They love to fall asleep together every night. I always tell the kids I love them before I tell them something that is probably not a great idea and recently I have heard Carter say, "Rylie I love you but please don't touch my cars." Both the boys always say "no, no sweetie" when talking to Rylie. I love even with their words how they are very aware she is the girl and baby of the family. Carter still says words like sel-a-fish when talking about thing we shouldn't do because that is selfish. He can write his name now:) and he is just learning and growing so much each day. We are so very proud of him.

September I also went to Angie's bachelorette weekend in Galveston which was so much fun. I left on a Thursday because Amy was going on a trip with her husband so I got to go hang out with her kids for a night before I went to Angie's weekend. Bret's parents came to watch the boys, and I took Rylie with me. We had such a great and fun time over with Amy's kids for that night and the next day we picked up my sister, Ana and then headed down to Galveston. First, we stopped over at my grandpa's house because he needed us to go through all of the stuff at my grandma's house. He sold the house so we took anything we wanted from there. We got some great things for our house, but mostly just some kitchen stuff and jewelry that will always remind me of my grandma. Hard to believe she has already been gone two years. Sure do still miss her around.
The weekend for Angie was a lot of fun-just lots of hanging out and laughing. Swam in the water and went for some walks. Ana and I headed back Saturday night since she was 36 weeks prego and I wanted to be home on Sunday for family day. It was a great weekend of celebrating Angie though and was so glad I was able to be there.

Our family got to the be in the Bastrop Homecoming parade and ride in the pink lost pines toyota truck! It was such a great and fun time for our family. We sure do love living in a small town to get to be apart of fun things like that so often. We also had a really fun Cow-o-ween event that we did at the store with face painting, square dancing, decorating pumpkins and fun with the cow. It was a really fun event and our community group as well, so that was a blast getting to have them there as well. For Halloween we went tot he big downtown bastrop event, but it was super crowded so then we opted for going to the streets of downtown where all the people sit out in their yard for trick or treaters. Such a great idea and the kids all had a lot of fun that night. Carter was the blue ninja this year, Tucker was buzz lightyear and Rylie was the lion costume that all three of our kids have worn now:)

Ocotber was filled with lots of such great things. Ana had her baby on her DUE date of October 14th. It was a Tuesday, so we went down there on Friday to meet and see baby Titus! That was such a fun weekend with family and getting to meet him. We  had a great time getting to see some friends and family in the Woodlands. Bret got to come as well with us, so I got to do things like go take Titus for a morning so Ana could rest. He is such an adorable and sweet baby. So glad our kiddos have a cousin around now. Rylie kept trying to give him kisses and Carter would hold him and say"its ok, its ok" so sweetly to him. He is such a chunk. At least I get to live through my nephew for having a chubby baby.

The next weekend Angie was getting married! So October was really such a fun filled month for us. We left on Thursday around lunch(because Carter wanted to go to school) and headed down to Friendswood. We stayed with my dad for the wedding so that was a lot of fun. The boys just played so hard all.day everyday. They rode tractors, four wheelers, swam in the hot tub, rode in the jeep and corvette, fed the horses. It was so.much fun for them. OnThursday, Ang and I went to get our nails done, and then we all went to dinner at my dad's restaurant that night with everyone. The next day Bret and all the kids played at my dad's house all day while I went to the bridal luncheon with Angie at mosquito cafe. My aunt hosted it and it was so great. Such a great time with friends and my aunt made this awesome slideshow for Angie from all her friends and family in her life. That night was the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner. The boys didn't make it down the aisle for the practice run....again. Just like last year they totally were not up for the whole practice thing, but they sure did have a blast at the rehearsal dinner with all the pizza and chocolate:). Bret took the kids home that night and then I went and stayed with my sister and all the other bridesmaids at the beach house. We had a great night walking along the beach and hanging out until it was wedding day! That morning my mom, sisters, and I all went to go get our hair and make up done which I loved getting to do that all together. Then, we headed to the church to take pictures before the real deal!Bret was super dad and got the kiddos their naps and got them all dressed and ready for the wedding all by himself. He had them all looking so cute:) Angie was stunning and the wedding was perfect. The boys made it down the aisle! This year Tucker left Carter in the dust and Carter ran down the aisle with a pillow over his face. It was so funny. At least they keep it interesting:) They had so much fun dancing the night away at the wedding. Tucker fell asleep in Bret's arms before the night was over and Rylie suddenly became a night owl and stayed up until we left at 10:45!! It was fun to see so many people at the wedding and even Bret's parents got to come down for it! The next morning we met them for lunch at my dad's restaurant, and then with a very tired crew we headed home. So many great memories made that weekend and it was so fun to get to be apart of it all and stand beside Angie on her wedding day. So glad Spencer is now officially Uncle Spencer.

Onto to November now:) Last weekend we took the kids to barton hill farms here in town. They had such a great time on the slides, jumping pillow, playing in the sand, riding bikes, going for trailer rides and we even made it through the whole corn maze! It was such a perfect family day on a beautiful day before this crazy cold front came in this week! We have really, really enjoyed our community group we joined a few months back. We have met some great friends and people through it. That has been a great highlight lately and the kids and I have been enjoying being able to jump back into bsf. It has been really fun to feel so much more at home lately and have so many great activities going on. This past weekend my whole family was driving through so I got to see my mom on friday night, dad and maggie on saturday and Angie and Spencer on Sunday. I love that our home is on the way to so many places because it makes for such a great time to see other people!

This week Amy and her two youngest came in and we had a great time playing and hanging out with them despite the cold. I love getting to watch our kids grow up together even if it is from a distance now.We have known them since Carter was about 7 months old, so I love that her younger ones and all of mine have seen each other since they were all babies:). Very thankful for our friendships with them.

Some fun things about my younger two lately. Rylie is obsessed with balls and says "ba ba or ball" all the time. She also grunts a ton which is quite comical to me. She stands up in her crib now and walks all along it. She loves to plays with the mobile in her crib and hits it all the time(I should probably take that down now) She can also say "mama" but totally prefers "ball". She just became obsessed with climbing up the stairs. I need a gate. I really need a gate. She loves to wave and point her finger. She so wants to be big like her brothers. She loves to pull up on everything like the train table or the tv stand, but her favorite by far is my leg, oh and then in turn to scream or hold on as tight as she can till I pick her up.  This month she finally started crawling on all fours instead of scooting, but she does still do that since we have all wood floors. She loves to eat anything and everything and still has the sweetest smile there ever was. Can't believe in a few short months she will be one.

Tucker. It is crazy to think that in a few short months he will be three. How are our kids getting so big? This kid's personality is larger than life. Or maybe I should say louder than life because his volume level is loud and louder. I told Bret the other day he is going to be the class clown or something of the sort in school. I mean he has been potty trained for months now and every time he still goes potty he will say "I can't wait for potty training." Oh he is a goober. He loves to play "I spy with my little eye" and our favorite saying right now "No way Hosey" which is supposed to No way Jose!He still says everything misappeared and and all his L's sounds like W's. Weaf, bawwy(bally) and my favorite word he says right now is bawana(banana). He says random things like calling cinnamon rolls waffles and he calls his jacket his life jacket and his hood is his helmet. We have to translate lots for others. Whenever Tucker sees any sporting event on TV he automatically starts yelling, "Yes! Go Aggies! Score!" Bret has obviously brainwashed him:) He also loves to say "na na na boo boo" which bret talked to him about so now he goes to every.one else and tells them, "hey, that's teasing. My daddy said it is teasing." ha. He always asks questions and then will say "oh right. or oh yeah" He will say things like "what in the world, are you kidding me" when I told him he didn't have to wipe down the bed when the boys were helping me clean the other day. I mean I could just write a book on the things this kid says. He keeps us on our toes, but what 2 year old doesn't. Every time he is in time out he is always "ready to listen" right after we put him there or he always has to go potty. This kid is no dummy. And he's pretty cute. Everyday is a new day with this little guy but we sure are crazy about him:)

We have a bunch of birthday parties, events at the store, and Carter's Thanksgiving feast next week at school before we head to Houston for Thanksgiving this year. We will have Thanksgiving at my mom's house this year and really looking forward to it. Hopefully, I will stay better up to date here with the holidays coming up!
